Police appeal for help in High Park playground arson investigation

Just days after the popular playground at High Park was ravaged by fire, Toronto police are appealing for help from the public to solve what they say is a case of arson.

A passerby spotted the flames in the large wooden castle at the Jamie Bell Adventure Playground around 3 a.m. Saturday. When fire crews arrived, the playground was fully engulfed and destroyed.

Numerous organizations and citizens have come forward with offers to help rebuild the playground. It was originally built in 1988, largely by volunteers.

Police are asking anyone with information on the fire to contact investigators at (416) 808-1150 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
